Earlier today, NJ Attorney General Matthew Platkin announced the owner of a Vineland, NJ Group Home and an employee have been arrested for allegedly neglecting and abusing an elderly resident.
Elwyn Pennsylvania Delaware Inc. and employee Gwendolyn Singletary were arraigned on October 20th on charges of neglect of an elderly or disabled person and conspiracy to commit same. Additionally, Gwendolyn Singletary was also charged with assault on an institutionalized person.

In the release, there were two separate incidents detailed where a resident had fallen, and it took hours, up to seven, for a staff member to help the resident back to their feet. It was also revealed that the staff member failed to properly check the resident for injuries.
In the release, AG Platkin said “The behavior described in the indictment goes beyond the mere neglect. We will not allow conduct like this in our care facilities.”
