Jayron Thomas, 27, of Vineland has been charged with first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, fourth-degree possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence after fatally stabbing sixty-seven year old Ronald Shields.
Authorities arrived to the scene after multiple reports and found Ronald Shields, 67, of Vineland with multiple stab wounds. Shields was flown to Atlantic City hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Jayron Thomas was apprehended in close proximity to the scene, and told police he fled the scene on foot after the stabbing. He told authorities he discarded the knife under a parked vehicle.
Thomas initially claimed he stabbed Shields in self defense, but later revealed they had a physical altercation.
