Bridgeton, NJ - The Bridgeton community is mourning the loss of 24-year-old Favian Cruz, who tragically lost his life in a collision on Rt. 55 on Monday, July 13th.

New Jersey State Police said Cruz was driving a Ram pickup truck in the wrong direction, driving northbound on the southbound side of the highway. At approximately 11:00 pm, Cruz collided head-on with a tractor-trailer near Exit 53.

The road was closed until 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday due to the accident, with Cruz suffering fatal injuries and the driver of the tractor-trailer suffering minor injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and it is unclear why Cruz was on the wrong side of the road.

Following the accident, loved ones created a GoFundMe page to support the funeral expenses.
